| With the outbreak of Covid-19 in late 2019 and its rapid global sweep, information about Covid-19 continues to appear in the limelight and exposure to Covid-19 information has become an extremely common and necessary constant in everyone’s life in recent years.Exposure to information about catastrophic events has been shown to cause individuals to experience varying degrees of negative emotional reactions.Due to the widespread impact of Covid-19 on the economic, physical and mental health of the global population,it also has a complex and far-reaching impact on employees in all industries. After being exposed to the information about Covid-19,some employees may indulge in the negative information about the pneumonia, become overly anxious about their own safety and security, and view the pneumonia as a disaster that they cannot cope with, leading to some withdrawal behaviors.Conversely, some employees focus on positive information related to the outbreak, adjust their mindset in a timely manner, focus on the significance of the crisis event in terms of personal growth, and accelerate learning new skills and improving work processes.Covid-19 information exposure has a significant impact on all aspects of an individual’s life, however, previous studies have focused on the psychological health of individuals, and there is still a gap in research on the impact on employees’ work. Therefore, the different work outcomes of employees exposed to Covid-19 information became the starting point of this study: what are the psychological mechanisms behind the two coping styles ? Why do employees act in two very different ways when faced with the same catastrophic event? What is the relationship between covid-19,work withdrawal and job crafting? Therefore, based on the social information processing theory, this study mediates the two cognitive variables, catastrophizing and positive reappraisal, and introduces BAS/BIS as the moderating variable to verify the influence of covid-19 on employee work withdrawal and job crafting under different cognitive pathways and psychological mechanisms.A questionnaire was distributed to survey 326 employees in the service industry, internet platforms and traditional manufacturing industries in Hangzhou,Zhejiang Province.By processing and analyzing the data with SPSS 26.0 and AMOS 26.0,we obtained the following conclusions:1.Covid-19 information exposure is positively correlated with work withdrawal.2.Covid-19 information exposure is positively correlated with job crafting.3.Covid-19 information exposure is positively correlated with catastrophizing.4.Covid-19 information exposure is positively correlated with positive reappraisal.5.Catastrophizing plays a mediating role between covid-19 information exposure and work withdrawal.6.Positive reappraisal plays a mediating role between covid-19 information exposure and job crafting.7.BIS positively moderates the relationship between covid-19 information exposure and catastrophizing.8.BIS positively moderates the mediating effect of catastrophizing on covid-19 information exposure and work withdrawal.9.BAS positively moderates the relationship between covid-19 information exposure and positive reappraisal.10.BAS positively moderates the mediating effect of positive reappraisal on covid-19 information exposure and job crafting. |
