Cultural forms expressed in patterns have always existed throughout the development of Chinese civilization, and the Dawenkou pottery pattern is one of the earliest ways in which the primitive ancestors consciously told history, culture and emotional expression through artistic activities. The primitive ancestors used the material of life as the basis for their creation, and made imitation, abstraction and deformation on the pottery pattern, through the development process of figuration to abstraction, imitation to generalization, and finally formed the unique artistic style and visual expression of Dawenkou pottery. The development of technology has led to the rapid spread of mobile devices, and the development of modern society and culture and the variation of the public’s aesthetic needs have become more and more demanding for illustration, and motion graphics are more likely to attract the viewer’s attention and gain more time for them. The development of motion graphics has led to the development of dynamic illustration, and thus dynamic illustration has emerged in the new media era. This article takes Dawenkou pottery patterns as the research object, explores the artistic value of Dawenkou pottery patterns and the aesthetic consciousness of early ancestors, classifies Dawenkou pottery patterns, explores new interpretations of Dawenkou pottery patterns in dynamic illustration, combines early civilization with modern art forms, and creates dynamic illustrations of cultural heritage themes, which is conducive to the inheritance of pottery patterns and injects cultural connotations into modern design. It is conducive to the inheritance of the pottery motifs and the infusion of culture into modern design.
