| The report is based on the translation task of Chapter 4 “Fashion Match and Dress Code”of the textbook Image Design and Expression: Color,Clothing and Makeup. The project significantly promotes the teaching and communication of Chinese and foreign clothing cultures.According to Katharina Reiss’ text typology, the source text of the project is an informational text, and its textbook attributes also require “generality”.Based on extensive reading of parallel texts, the translator built her own corpus and prepared relevant tools. In order to achieve accuracy, the translator explored both lexically and syntactically by means of multi-method word search, synonymic substitution and addition;to achieve readability, she considered the logicality and communicativeness of English writing;to achieve generality of the work, she conveyed information through concise language and avoided using empty and superfluous words. The report is divided into four parts. The first part is an introduction to the project, covering the background, significance of the task and the structure of the report. The second part describes the translation process from pre-translation,in-translation and post-translation.The third part is a case study, focusing on the concrete implementation of different translation strategies through specific translation examples. The last part is the project summary, including translation practice gains and problems to be solved. |
