Pottery was widely used in ancient daily life, not only with a large number, easy to change, and obvious characteristics, but also as a commonly used burial object in tombs. This article takes pottery unearthed from Eastern Zhou tombs in the Jianghuai region of Anhui Province as the research object.Based on typology, cultural factor analysis methods and statistical methods are used for research.A classification of 12 types of pottery unearthed in tombs, including pottery beans, jars,li,pots, ding, pot, plate, high handle cup,yi,dun, box, and fang, was conducted, and the basic evolution laws of each type of pottery were summarized.Based on existing research results, pottery unearthed from Eastern Zhou tombs in the Jianghuai region of Anhui can be divided into five periods and eight sections, and the ages of each period have been determined. When studying the combination forms of tomb pottery, based on the scale of the tomb, the type and quantity of burial equipment, and the inference of the tomb owner’s identity by the excavators,it can be divided into five categories: A,B,C,D,and E.A total of 2 Class A tombs,29 Class B tombs,155 Class C tombs, and 261 Class D tombs were collected. The diachronic changes in the combination forms of pottery buried in various tombs were investigated,Summarized the temporal characteristics of the pottery combinations buried in the tombs as a whole. At the same time, from the perspective of the functional use of pottery,it is divided into five categories: cooking utensils, food utensils, water utensils, wine utensils, and miscellaneous utensils. The frequency of the various functions of pottery in tombs is statistically analyzed, and it is found that the proportion of each function appears differently at different stages.Over time, the proportion of food utensils and water utensils appears to be decreasing, while the proportion of cooking utensils, wine utensils, and miscellaneous utensils appears to be increasing,The concept of accompanying pottery in tombs has undergone a change. In addition, during this period, pottery was generally concentrated in a certain position in vertical pit tombs, and there was less scattered placement of pottery in tombs; In tombs with coffins, pottery is mainly placed outside the coffins and between the coffins; When a two-story platform appears in the tomb structure, there seems to be no significant pattern in the placement of pottery; When niches appear in the structure of the tomb chamber, pottery is often placed inside the niches. After comparing the pottery unearthed from the tombs in this area with the pottery unearthed from the tombs in neighboring areas,it can be found that the pottery unearthed from the Eastern Zhou period tombs in the Jianghuai region of Anhui not only has local Huai Yi culture factors, but also is influenced by Zhou culture,Chu culture, and Wu Yue culture factors.Throughout the Eastern Zhou Dynasty, the cultural factors of the Zhou Dynasty were throughout it,with Huaiyi culture as the representative of the foldable shoulder li,foldable shoulder jar,and cranked he mainly existing during the Spring and Autumn period. The cultural factors of Wu and Yue showed strong characteristics during the Spring and Autumn period, and gradually weakened in the early Warring States period. The Chu culture factor in tombs became increasingly evident in the late Spring and Autumn period.By the early Warring States period, both the types of artifacts and the combination of pottery reflected strong Chu culture characteristics.Overall,by studying the typology, combination forms, placement, and cultural factors of pottery unearthed from tombs,it can be observed from the perspective of pottery that the burial customs of Eastern Zhou tombs in the Jianghuai region of Anhui Province have undergone a transformation. The political forces in the region have undergone a shift from diversity to unity, and different cultures have blended together.
