Franz Lehar is a very representative in the history of operetta and the most successful composer of operetta in the 20 th century.He has created more than 40 operetta works in his life.Among them,the early creation of The Merry Widow is a milestone in the development history of Vienna operetta and a treasure of operetta.It was the successful performance of this work that made Lehar famous and thus opened the "Silver Age" of Vienna operetta.In addition,his later creation of "The Kingdom of Smiles" is also a highly distinctive and representative work,with Chinese stories as the theme,showcasing the exploration and attempt to integrate Western opera art with Eastern culture and music,and achieving great success once performed.This article starts with the three tenor aria in these two operas,and summarizes the singing characteristics of tenor aria in Lehar opera and the requirements for tenor singing techniques and performances through the analysis of the characters,music and singing in the opera,hoping that these theoretical studies can be better used to guide their own artistic practice.This article is divided into four parts.The first part is to provide a theoretical basis for the study of this paper by analyzing Lehar’s contribution to the development of operetta and the creation background of two operetta,The Merry Widow and The Kingdom of Smiles;The second part provides an emotional foundation for the research of this paper by analyzing the male protagonists in the play;The third part is the key point of this paper.Through the analysis of the three tenor aria ’musical form,mode,lyrics pronunciation accuracy and singing characteristics,it analyzes and summarizes the singing characteristics of Lehar tenor aria and the requirements for tenor singing skills and performance;The last part of the paper is based on my own learning and concert singing practice,and describes some of my own experiences and insights,hoping to have a deeper understanding and understanding of Lehar’s operetta works for more learners and researchers,and better grasp and interpret Lehar’s tenor aria works in singing practice.
