Marx’s two most famous discoveries are summarised as the ’materialist conception of history’ and the ’theory of surplus value’,while the core concept that runs through these two discoveries is the ’proletariat’.This article focuses on the early development of Marx’s view of the proletariat and its specific connotations, with a view to achieving a profound understanding of the proletariat. It takes Marx’s process of observing, recognising, discerning and constructing the proletariat as the main line of study, and proceeds on the basis of an in-depth analysis and interpretation of the text.Firstly, the socio-historical and ideological foundations of Marx’s ’view’ of the proletariat are clarified. The study focuses on his time, his early life and learning experiences, and his work experience during the Rheinische Zeitung period,in order to clarify that his conception of the proletariat and his theories were not created out of thin air,but had deep ideological and historical roots. The process of Marx’s understanding and construction of the proletariat can be divided into four important perspectives: humanist philosophy, political economy, the real workers’ movement, and the materialist view of history: through his critique of Hegel’s philosophy of law,he opened up a philosophical perspective to form a proletariat with unique philosophical implications;influenced by Hess and the young Engels and others,he opened up a political economy perspective of the proletariat, and in his critique of classical economics and analysis of the working class,he opened up a political economy perspective of the proletariat. In his critique of classical economics and analysis of the working class,he exposes the secrets of alienated labour and private property, and initially explores the communist path of actively abandoning private property;after seeing the fierce Silesian workers’ movement,he opens up the perspective of the revolutionary movement of the working class and confirms the advancement and reality of the working class in achieving social revolution;through the reckoning of the previous philosophy together with Engels,he opens up the perspective of the materialist view of history, and in his The materialist view of history points to the importance of the formation of class consciousness in the proletariat and its world-historical significance.Under the Four Emphasis Corner,Marx’s view of the proletariat was gradually refined, thus forming a theory of class based on the materialist view of history, which pointed the way to the cause of proletarian emancipation.Once the early view of the proletariat was formed,Marx immediately applied it to the class struggle and to his later critique of political economy. The subject of the emancipation of the proletariat became an important thread running through his life. Finally, the current state of development of contemporary proletarian theory is discussed in the light of the connotations and rational core of Marx’s classical view of the proletariat, with a focus on a review of several schemes for the political subject by Western left-wing thinkers.Marx’s theory of the proletariat needs to be constantly revisited. For as long as man is still held in the chains of the logic of capital and has not yet achieved complete emancipation, the class question is inescapable. The proletariat,as the subject that takes up the historical task of achieving emancipation and realising communism,is a concept that is constantly being generated and needs to be given new life as we continue to develop over the course of time.
