Children’s mental health has always been an important concern around the world.It is a good sign of children’s health and well-being,and has a significant impact on children’s healthy growth and even future social integration.Child Health Psychology:A Biopsychosocial Perspective is a textbook dedicated to the psychology of child and adolescent health,which won the British Psychological Society Book Award.The translator selects Chapter 9 of the book for this translation practice.As a typical psychological text,Chapter 9 is dedicated to the biopsychosocial factors that affect children’s pain,with rigorous logic,accurate words and deep expertise.Guided by functional equivalence theory,the translator managed to achieve functional equivalence in translation by using various translation methods in the lexical,syntactic and textual levels.At the lexical level,the translator translated professional terms and common words through part-of-speech conversion,annotation and four-character structures,reflecting the accuracy and standardity of the translation.At the syntactic level,the translator adopted the method of restructuring,division and free translation to reproduce the meaning and logic of long and difficult sentences.At the discourse level,the translator used grammatical and lexical cohesion to achieve discourse cohesion and coherence.Through the translation practice,the translator has deepened the understanding of functional equivalence theory and child psychology,and improved the translation ability.The translator hopes that this report can be a reference for future translation and research in child psychology.
