On The Cultivation And Expression Of Character Emotion By Actors In Drama Performance

For actors,character emotions are the internal driving force of actions,and for the audience,they are an important prerequisite for experiencing the existence of relationship between both parties.Whether actors correctly understand and express character emotions is one of the keys to forming a personal style that distinguishes from other actors.Through their own life experience and insights,they place their emotions under the characters and become a part of stage art.This study takes Stanislavsky’s acting system as the theoretical guidance,and the character image of Jiang Binliu in the graduation play Secret Love as the research object to explore the cultivation and expression of character emotion by actors in drama performance.First,it defines character emotions,analyzes the relationship between the attribute of the character emotions and the portrayal of the character image;Secondly,through the analysis of the prescribed situations in Secret Love,combined with the problems encountered during the rehearsal process,this study discusses the methods of cultivating actors’ emotions towards characters in both external and internal prescribed situations;Finally,this study summarizes the means and methods of presenting the characters’ emotions from practice.By combining theory with one’s own rehearsal experience,this study elaborates on the influence of character emotions on the process of actors from character experience to stage expression.The creation of dynamic,real,and moving stage character images by actors cannot be separated from the experience of character emotions.
