Marine fisheries, indispensable links in the economic growth of coastal countries, play an important role in food and nutrition security. However, the development of marine fisheries has been accompanied by gradually frequent illegal fishing and overfishing, which has put the survival of fish populations and marine ecosystems at risk. The Blue Revolution: Hunting,Harvesting, and Farming Seafood in the Information Age focuses on the issue of excessive and illegal fishing in marine fisheries, detailing the efforts that have been made around the world to manage marine fisheries and how big data technology can be applied to fishery management. The book embodies the scientific, popular, and interesting characteristics of a popular science work.It can provide people with the knowledge of the development of marine fisheries and experiences that can be applied to marine fisheries management and fisheries resources conservation. In view of the book’s practical significance and application value, the author has translated some of its chapters into Chinese. In the process of translation, the translator was faced with the problem of how to maintain a certain degree of scientificity in the translation while achieving a lively, fluent, and easy-to-understand effect.Based on this, the translation practice report selects Chesterman’s Translation Norm Theory as the guiding theory to elaborate on the key points and difficulties from semantic, syntactic, and pragmatic levels. And an in-depth analysis has been conducted on translation strategies, including transposition, sentence structure change, abstract change, and explicitness change,to study the reasonable and effective use of the above strategies in the translation of popular science texts. This study aims to provide some reference for the translation of related works in the future.
