Zhan Jingfeng is known for his expertise in connoisseurship, and the number of articles on his connoisseurship studies has gradually increased in recent years. While Zhan Jingfeng’s ideas on connoisseurship, works on connoisseurship, and conceptions of painting history have received increasing attention from the scholarly community, his personal painting and calligraphy practice and his legacy of painting and calligraphy have been neglected by researchers, and issues related to style and mastery have yet to be studied. For this reason, this paper attempts to study Zhan Jingfeng’s personal art, starting from his painting and calligraphy practice. In the art history of the late Ming Dynasty,Zhan Jingfeng has been praised for his "ink and bamboo" and "cursive calligraphy",so the article selects these two subjects, which best represent Zhan Jingfeng’s achievements in calligraphy and painting,as the entry point for this study. The article therefore selects these two subjects as the starting point for the study, and while extensively collecting relevant historical documents and combing through the surviving works of calligraphy and painting, the article explores the artistic performance of Zhan Jingfeng in painting and calligraphy by removing the fakes and preserving the truth. The article also analyzes and examines issues related to Zhan Jingfeng’s calligraphy and painting, such as his mastery, method, brush and ink expression, and markings and marks.
