The method of "Viewing objects and taking images" is a basic and important issue for the practice of painting creation. The combing of the method of "Viewing objects and taking images" has been discussed in the painting theories of the past dynasties, but the evolution of the method of "Viewing objects and taking images" in traditional Chinese painting in the past dynasties is rarely systematically combed. However,Zhou Ruchang systematically combed the development process of "Viewing objects and taking images" in the evolution process of Chinese character shape in his book "Eight Methods of Permanent Character--Calligraphy Art Lecture Notes" and summarized it as "creating images" theory. This paper takes the pictographic characteristics shared by Chinese characters and painting as the starting point and refers to Zhou Ruchang’s theory of "image creation" to sort out the evolution process of the method of "Viewing objects and taking images" in traditional Chinese painting. The author believes that the theory of "image creation" has important enlightenment significance for sorting out the systematization of the method of "Viewing objects and taking images" in painting and summarizing the steps of the method of looking at objects and taking images in the current creative practice. In the first chapter, the author firstly gives a brief overview of Zhou Ruchang’s theory of "image creation" and summarizes it into three stages.Secondly, the author systematically sorts out the evolution of the traditional Chinese painting method of "Viewing objects and taking images" by comparing the stages of the theory of image creation. In the second chapter, the author summarizes the evolution of the method of "Viewing objects and taking images" in painting by referring to the theory of image creation, and holds that the three stages summed up in the theory of "observing objects and taking images" in Chinese characters can be completely used in painting. In the third chapter, the author deeply understands and extends the research on the theory of "image creation".Combining with the method of "looking at objects and taking images" in traditional Chinese painting, the author tries to summarize the process of "Viewing objects and taking images" in the current creative practice into three steps: taking images, transforming images and creating images, and discusses how to achieve "image creation" in the process of "Viewing objects and taking images".The fourth chapter is based on the author’s creative practice, and discusses the feasibility of "taking images from objects" through three steps: taking images, transforming images and creating images.Through this process,it can be seen that the theory of "image creation" is systematic and systematic in sorting out the evolution process of the method of "looking at objects and taking images" in traditional Chinese painting`s enlightenment value,at the same time,it also enables us to have a deeper understanding of how to deal with the objective objects in the current creation practice in order to achieve "image creation" and create paintings more in line with the laws of art.
