As a carrier of information dissemination,news has been a main and important approach for the public to understand the latest information and the development of different countries.With the increasing globalization,international news has become the focal point for people from all over the world.It helps people understand the major events in various countries and strengthens contacts with people from different countries.At the same time,the important current issues broadens readers’ horizons,which makes readers keep pace with the times.In the author’s view,objectivity is the feature of news for the reason that the activity of transmitting news information has a definite purpose.Therefore,the author chooses Skopos theory to guide the translation process.The author follows the three rules of Skopos theory: the Skopos rule,the coherence rule and the fidelity rule.The Skopos rule argues that translation activity has its purpose,and translation should follow its purpose.In news translation,the purpose is to accurately express the meaning of original content.The coherence rule means that the translation should reach the standard of intra-textual coherence.Therefore,in the process of translation,the author pays more attention to the readability and acceptability of the translated version.The fidelity rule requires the target text to be faithful to the original.In the translation process,the author accurately translated the meaning of the original text.What’s more,the Skopos rule should be the main principle in translation.The report of this translation practice is written on the basis of E-C offshore wind news project from China Ocean Press.First,the author has introduced the project of news translation and the preparatory work including arranging the project,analyzing news text features and studying translation theory which can be applicable to the translation.Then,the author has expounded the difficulties and the solutions in the process of translation.The main difficulties are the translation of the extension of lexical meanings,proper nouns,pronouns,redundant information and long sentences.Based on the careful analysis of the difficulties,the author has adopted proper translation skills such as free translation,amplification,omission,recasting under the guidance of Skopos theory.Finally,the author has expressed the process of revising and correcting the translated version.Through the author’s constant revision,the translation,becoming more rigorous and accurate,has met the requirements of the press.Through the research on the translation of E-C news under the guidance of Skopos theory,the author has some reflections and suggestions.First,translators should deeply understand the three rules of Skopos theory and apply them to the translation process.Only by putting the three rules in the first place,can the translation be accurate,readable and acceptable.Secondly,the translator should know the background knowledge which is related to the translation project so that it can be helpful to understand the original text and translate it accurately.The author hopes that this report has referential value that can help more translators to translate such type of texts.
