| Adolescent suicide is a worldwide concerned issue both in social and public domains. The prevalence of suicide attempt reaches the peak during middle adolescence, while suicide ideation is even more prevalent, with approximately 70% junior school students have hinted or expressed their suicide ideation to their friends or people around them.Suicide ideation is the most sensitive predictor of suicide behavior.Exploring the relevant influencing factors of suicide ideation formation would help predict, screen and timely intervene the occurrence of high-risk suicide behavior.Upon reviewing relevant literature,it becomes evident that environment factors and individual diathesis factors play important roles in the emergency of suicide ideation during adolescent development. For adolescents, family is the basic unit of social life, meanwhile,it is the initial and most critical environment for individual growth.Family environment conflicts are highly positively correlated with the level of suicidal ideation among adolescents.Depression,as an individual diathesis factor,is also a powerful predictor of suicidal ideation. At this stage, more and more theoretical models and related studies of suicide ideation begin to shift their perspective to the interaction of environmental factors and individual quality factors on the emergence of individual suicide ideation. With that in mind, this study is based on the theory of ecological biology of human development, the interpersonal theory of suicide, differential activation theory of suicidality and the integrated motivational-volitional model of suicidal behavior to explore the impact of family environment conflicts and depression on adolescent suicide ideation from a longitudinal perspective and comprehensive standpoint. This study used family environment scale, the center for epidemiological studies depression scale and suicide ideation/suicide attempt scale, taking total 211 students in grade seven of a middle school students in Tianjin as the participants, and conducting three follow-up surveys at an interval of six months.Study 1 aimed to explore the alteration of family environment conflicts、depression and suicide ideation at three time points.Study 2 discussed the influence of family environment conflicts and depression on the development of suicide ideation among adolescents at three time points by cross-lagged analysis.Study 3 examined the inter-temporal mediating effect of depression on family environment conflicts and suicide ideation by establishing a cross-lagged model from a longitudinal perspective. The main results of this study are as follows:1)Due to study 1,during three measurements, the score of adolescents’ family environment conflicts showed a gradual upward trend over time and there was no statistically significant difference between the three measurements. The score of adolescents’ depression increased first and decreased over time, there was no statistically significant difference between the three measurements. The score of adolescents’ suicide ideation decreased first and increased over time, the postmortem test revealed that the level of suicide ideation at time point 1 was significantly higher than it was at time point 2.2)Due to study 2,both family environment conflicts and depression could positively predict suicidal ideation of adolescents longitudinally.3)Due to study 3,depression played an inter-temporal mediating role between family environment conflicts and suicidal ideation. In summary, this study revealed the risk factors of adolescent suicide ideation from a longitudinal perspective, confirmed the negative impact of family environment conflicts and depression on the generation of suicidal ideation in adolescents, and provided scientific basis for early identification and timely intervention of adolescent suicidal behavior. |
