Objective:To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of Dong’s acupoint combined with electro-acupuncture s for acute phase lumbar disc herniation(LDH)with cold-dampness obstruction.Methods:72 cases of lumbar disc herniation with cold and dampness obstruction were randomly divided into observation group and control group. The observation group was treated with Dong’s acupoints combined with electroacupuncture, while the control group was treated with conventional electroacupuncture. Both groups were treated once a day for 10 days as a course of treatment for 2 consecutive courses, and there are 1 days between each course.Visual analog scale(VAS)score,Japanese Orthopaedic Society Evaluation Treatment score(JOA)score and TCM syndrome score before and after treatment were compared between the two groups to evaluate their safety and clinical efficacy.Results:1.Baseline data:There were no statistically significant differences in gender, age, course of disease and corresponding observation indexes between the two groups(P<0.05),indicating that it is comparable.2.VAS score:(1)Intra-group comparison:VAS score in both groups was significantly lower than before treatment(P<0.001,the difference was statistically significant);②Comparison between groups:After treatment,VAS score of observation group decreased significantly compared with control group(P<0.05).3.JOA scores:① Intra-group comparison:JOA scores in both groups were significantly higher than those before treatment(P<0.001).②Comparison between groups:After treatment, the increase of observation group was more significant than control group(P<0.05).4.TCM syndrome scores:① Intra-group comparison:TCM syndrome scores of both groups were significantly lower than those before treatment(P<0.001);②Comparison between groups:After treatment,TCM syndrome scores in the observation group decreased more significantly than those in the control group(P<0.05).6.Safety evaluation:The vital signs of the patients in both groups were stable, and no adverse reactions such as dizziness, broken needles, stagnant needles and subcutaneous hematoma occurred, indicating that acupuncture of Dong’s acupoints and conventional electro-acupuncture treatment were safe and reliable.Conclusions:1.Both Dong’s acupoints combined with electroacupuncture group and conventional electroacupuncture group can significantly improve the lumbar dysfunction, relieve pain and related syndroms of patients with cold and dampness obstruction type LDH.2.Dong’s acupoints combined with electro acupuncture has significant curative effect in the treatment of cold and dampness obstruction type of LDH patients.3.Dong’s acupoints combined with electroacupuncture is safe, reliable, maneuverable, and has clinical application and promotion value in the treatment of patients with cold and dampness obstruction type LDH.
