Objective: Using data mining technology explores the characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine and Cao Jianxiong’s clinical experience is summarized in the treatment of xerostomia after radiotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma.Through observing the result of data mining technology and Cao Jianxiong ’s experience,the general rules of treatment are found and the treatment process is standardized to provide some reference for clinical workers.Methods: Through retrieving the documents of Chinese medicine in the treatment of xerostomia after radiotherapy of nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC)in the Chinese Journal Full-Text Database(CNKI),Wan Fang Data Knowledge Service Platform(Wan Fang),Chinese Science and Technology Journal Database(VIP)and China Biomedical Literature Database(CBM),we sort out the prescription specifications in the documents and enter them into the Chinese Medicine Inheritance Assistance Platform(TCMISS),and carry out analysis of frequency statistics,prescription rules and new formula.At the same time,Cao Jianxiong ’s experience in treating xerostomia after radiotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma was summarized by sorting out clinical follow-up data,and studying the literature.Results: 83 qualified prescriptions and a total of 154 Chinese medicines were obtained after screening by inclusion and exclusion criteria,through searching the relevant literature on the treatment of xerostomia after radiotherapy of nasopharyngeal carcinoma by traditional Chinese medicine from January 1,1990 to December 31,2022.1.Drug efficacy: Heat-clearing drugs(38.28%)and deficiency-reinforcing drugs(32.84%)are used mainly.In the sub-classification,the heat-clearing drugs includes mainly blood-cooling drugs(14.72%)and detoxicating drugs(14.38%).At the same time,the deficiency-reinforcing drugs are mainly Yin reinforcing drugs(17.44%)and Qi reinforcing drugs(12.8%).2.Drug frequency: The total frequency of drug in this study was 883,of which 23 were used more than 10 times.The top 10 of drugs were Ophiopogon japonicus(69 times),Radix Rehmanniae(53 times),Glycyrrhizae(46 times),Radix Scrophulariae(43 times),Trichosanthes(28 times),Nansha ginseng(23 times),Honeysuckle(23 times),Hedyotis diffusa(21 times)and Peony bark(20 times).3.Meridian of taste: 477 cold drugs,157 flat drugs,123 warm drugs,and 86 cold drugs;A total of 603 times were used for sweet drugs,484 times for bitter drugs,170 times for bitter drugs,55 times for salty drugs,37 times for sour drugs,and 19 times for astringent drugs.The meridians are divided into 515 lung meridians,464 stomach meridians,334 heart meridians,250 liver meridians,245 spleen meridians,227 kidney meridians,71 large intestine meridians,56 small intestine meridians,42 gallbladder meridians,17 bladder meridians,14 pericardial meridians,and 1 triple energizer meridian.4.Core combination and new formula: according to the suggestions of the personnel,the number of support is 16,and the confidence degree is 0.9,and 18 combinations are obtained,including Ophiopogon japonicus-raw rehmannia(48 times),Ophiopogon japonicus-raw rehmannia-glycyrrhiza uralensis(33 times),Ophiopogon japonicus-raw rehmannia(32 times),Ophiopogon japonicus-raw rehmannia-radix scrophulariae(31 times),and 11 drug rules are obtained,including Trichosanthin → Ophiopogon japonicus,Trichosanthin → Ophiopogon japonicus,Trichosanthin,raw rehmannia → Ophiopogon japonicus The belief of Radix Rehmanniae,Radix Scrophulariae,Glycyrrhizae → Ophiopogon japonicus is 1.The complex system entropy clustering method and unsupervised entropy hierarchical clustering algorithm are adopted,and the correlation degree is 5 and the penalty degree is 2,and 8 pairs of core combinations including 2-4 Chinese herbs and 4 new prescriptions are obtained.Conclusion: 1.The characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine oral therapy for dry mouth syndrome after radiotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma are mainly the use of heat clearing and tonifying drugs,with representative drugs such as Ophiopogon japonicus,Shengdi,Xuanshen,Nanshashen,etc.The medicinal properties are mainly cold and mild,and the five flavors are mainly bitter and sweet.The meridians are mostly the lung and stomach meridians.The data mining results are consistent with the basic pathogenesis of dry mouth syndrome after radiotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma,which is characterized by excessive fire and toxin,and deficiency of both qi and yin.2.Professor Cao Jianxiong has a significant clinical effect on the treatment of xerostomia after radiotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma.His clinical experience is similar to the results of data mining,further verifying the rationality of the data mining results.3.Professor Cao Jianxiong has rich experience in the treatment of xerostomia after radiotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma.His syndrome differentiation can be divided into heat toxin stagnation syndrome,phlegm dampness internal obstruction syndrome,yin deficiency fire excess syndrome,qi yin deficiency syndrome,lung stomach yin deficiency syndrome,and deficiency excess syndrome.The main treatment methods include clearing heat,detoxifying and promoting fluid production,clearing heat,cooling blood,nourishing yin,and promoting blood circulation.Clinical experience drugs include hawthorn with tangerine peel,rhubarb with ginseng,three ginseng in combination,houttuynia cordata with rhodiola and ganoderma lucidum horn to reduce radiation.
