| Objective: To investigate the caregiving burden of primary caregivers of stroke patients, the current status of their family resilience, and the current status of quality of life,to analyze the correlation between the three, and to provide a theoretical basis for improving the quality of life of primary caregivers of stroke patients. Methods: For the cross-sectional survey study, primary caregivers of stroke patients attending a tertiary hospital in Hunan Province from January 2022 to December 2022 who met the inclusion criteria were selected using randomized whole-group sampling, and the inclusion of general data information section was designed by ourselves according to the purpose of this study and literature review, and basic patient information was collected using the patient general information questionnaire and daily living ability, applying The data were analyzed using SPSS26.0 software.Results:(1)In this study, the mean score of caregiving burden of primary caregivers of stroke patients was(45.37±16.95).The mean scores for each dimensional entry were(25.18±8.80)for personal burden and(12.21±5.72)for burden of responsibility;29.5% of the primary caregiver burden classes were severe,61.9% were moderate, and 8.6% were none or mild.A total of 10 factors, including patient’s admission mode, history of hypertension, history of diabetes, previous stroke history, caregiver’s gender, caregiver’s age, caregiver’s marital status, caregiver’s education,caregiver-patient relationship, and caregiver’s cumulative caregiving time, had an effect on the primary caregiver burden score, and the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).(2)The total score of family resilience of primary caregivers of stroke patients was(80.10±9.32).The mean scores of each dimensional entry were: resilience(25.60±2.95),rapport(12.63±5.31),openness(15.45±2.35),and support(15.41±2.15).Patient marital status, medical payment method, admission method, per capita monthly household income, previous stroke history, caregiver gender, caregiver marital status, caregiver education, caregiver occupational status,caregiver-patient relationship, and a total of 10 factors had an effect on caregiver family resilience scores, with statistically significant differences(P < 0.05).(3)The total health score of primary caregivers of stroke patients was(103.27±4.44).The mean scores of each dimensional entry were: general health(35.14±8.95),physical functioning(92.07±18.69),emotional functioning(73.62±15.74),somatic pain(41.85±8.97),mental health(88.96±15.12),energy(51.88±8.74),and social functioning(40.68±9.63).Among them,a total of six factors, including patient’s mode of admission, patient’s previous stroke history, caregiver’s age, caregiver’s marital status,caregiver-patient relationship, and caregiver’s cumulative time, had an impact on the quality of life of the patient’s primary caregiver, with statistically significant differences(P < 0.05).Mental health score(51.95±4.46).A total of 5 factors, including patient’s admission mode, patient’s previous stroke history, caregiver’s age, caregiver’s marital status, and whether the caregiver was caring with others, had an effect on the patient’s primary caregiver’s quality of life mental health, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).Physiological health score(51.33±1.22)and caregiver’s age had an effect on patients’ quality of life somatic health, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).(4)Pearson correlation analysis showed that caregiver caregiving burden was positively correlated with patients’ ability to perform daily living with a correlation coefficient of r=0.501(P<0.001),caregiver caregiving burden was negatively correlated with caregiver family resilience with a correlation coefficient of r=0.163(P<0.01),caregiver caregiving burden was negatively correlated with patients’ quality of life with r=-0.453(P < 0.001),patient’s ability to perform daily living was negatively correlated with primary caregiver quality of life r =-0.337(P <0.001),and caregiver caregiving burden was positively correlated with primary caregiver quality of daily living with a correlation coefficient of r = 0.574(P <0.05).Conclusions:(1)The primary caregiver care burden of stroke patients was moderate.(2)There was a certain correlation between the care burden of the primary caregiver of stroke patients, family resilience and quality of life, and the lighter the care burden of the primary caregiver, the higher the level of family resilience, and the higher the quality of life.(3)Stroke patient’s age, marital status, education level, occupational status, personal income, admission method, stroke type, past medical history, age of the main caregiver of stroke patient, relationship with the patient, whether the caregiver has others to assist in care, cumulative care time, and family resilience score are the influencing factors affecting the quality of life of the primary caregiver of stroke patient. |
