| Purpose:By analyzing the relationship between tongue signs and physicochemical indices and exploring the intrinsic physicochemical changes corresponding to different tongue signs,we can provide an objective and standardized theoretical basis for tongue diagnosis of hyperthyroidism and expand the application of tongue diagnosis in the diagnosis and treatment of hyperthyroidism.Material and method:The tongue information of 109 patients with hyperthyroidism in the endocrinology ward of the Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital and 50 healthy people in the physical examination department were collected using the "TCM diagnosis information collection management system" provided by Huimagu Technology,including tongue color(light red tongue,red tongue,light white tongue,purple tongue),moss color(white moss,yellow moss,grayish black moss),moss texture(thin moss,thick moss,greasy moss,little moss,no moss),tongue shape [cracked tongue(with or without),punctate tongue(with or without),and little moss.(thin moss,thick moss,greasy moss,little moss,no moss),tongue shape(cracked tongue(with or without),punctate tongue(with or without),tooth mark tongue(with or without),petechiae tongue(with or without)),sublingual veins(normal or coarse,dark or even with stasis),and quantitative tongue parameters(Lab-L,Lab-a,Lab-b indices of tongue texture and moss).The cases were divided into three groups:short-onset hyperthyroidism group,long-onset hyperthyroidism group and healthy people group.The differences in the tongue characteristics between the short-and long-onset hyperthyroidism patients and the correlation between the tongue characteristics and the laboratory indices of the hyperthyroidism patients were investigated based on the chi-square test,t-test of two independent samples,non-parametric test,ANOVA,correlation analysis,multiple linear regression and other statistical methods.Results:1.There was a statistically significant difference in the distribution of tongue color among the three groups(P<0.05),and a statistically significant difference in the distribution of tongue color among the three groups(P<0.05),with a statistically significant difference in the distribution of tongue color among the three groups(P<0.05),and a statistically significant difference in the distribution of tongue color among the three groups(P<0.05).There was a statistically significant difference in the distribution of tongue texture between the three groups(P<0.05),with the proportion of dotted tongue and cracked tongue in hyperthyroid patients being significantly greater than that in healthy individuals,and the proportion of dotted tongue in the short course hyperthyroidism group being significantly greater than that in the other two groups,and the proportion of cracked tongue in long course hyperthyroidism being significantly greater than that in the other two groups.There was no statistically significant difference in the distribution of the three groups(P<0.05),with the proportion of thick moss and less moss in hyperthyroid patients being significantly greater than that in healthy subjects.2.The correlation between tongue characteristics and thyroid function indexes was analyzed:in terms of tongue color,the levels of FT3 and FT4 in hyperthyroid patients were positively correlated with red tongue and purple tongue,and the levels of TRAb were positively correlated with red tongue(P<0.05).in terms of moss color,the levels of FT3,FT4 and TRAb in hyperthyroid patients were positively correlated with yellow moss(P<0.05).There was no correlation between TSH and Tg Ab levels and tongue characteristics in hyperthyroid patients(P>0.05).3.The correlation between tongue parameters and thyroid function indexes: FT3,FT4 and TRAb levels of hyperthyroidism were negatively correlated with tongue Lab-L,positively correlated with tongue Lab-a and positively correlated with tongue Lab-b(P<0.05).TSH levels of hyperthyroidism were positively correlated with tongue Lab-a(P<0.05).It is suggested that as FT3,FT4 and TRAb increase,the brightness of the tongue becomes darker,the color of the tongue becomes redder and the color of the tongue coating becomes more yellow.4.Correlation analysis between tongue parameters and other physical and chemical indexes:there was no correlation between tongue parameters and blood routine,urine routine,liver function test and kidney function test in hyperthyroidism patients(P>0.05).Conclusion:1.In patients with hyperthyroidism,the tongue color is mostly red or purple,and the moss color is mostly yellow;in patients with short-onset hyperthyroidism,red tongue,prickly tongue,yellow moss and thick moss are more common;in patients with long-onset hyperthyroidism,purple tongue,cracked tongue,yellow moss and less moss are more common.2.The higher the FT3 and FT4 titers of hyperthyroidism,the more the tongue color will be red or purple,the more the moss color will be yellow,and the more likely to appear punctate tongue and cracked tongue;the higher the TRAb titers,the more the tongue color will be red,the more the moss color will be yellow,and the more likely to appear cracked tongue and thick moss.3.The higher the titers of FT3,FT4 and TRAb,the lower the Lab-L value of the tongue,the higher the Lab-a value of the tongue and Lab-b value of the tongue,the darker the brightness of the tongue,the redder the color of the tongue and the more yellow the color of the tongue moss. |
