A Comparative Study Of Chinese And Russian Diplomatic Discourse On Courtesy Speech Act

As one of the core contents of pragmatics,speech act theory plays an important role in the process of human communication and has attracted much attention from scholars.Human language practice needs to follow certain speech act norms,and speech act theory plays a guiding role in the formulation of such norms.Etiquette is widely used in human daily life and is one of the important principles to be followed in verbal communication.Affected by factors such as national culture,language values,world outlook,etc.,different languages have deviations in understanding the concept of speech etiquette,and there are differences in the choice and use of etiquette speech behavior expressions.In order to carry out verbal communication smoothly and achieve good communicative effect,different languages abide by certain norms of speech etiquette when implementing speech acts.Courtesy speech acts in diplomatic discourse are one of the important language means to shape a country’s image and maintain international relations.This research uses the transcripts of Chinese and Russian foreign ministry spokespersons answering reporters’ questions as the corpus,with speech act theory as the support,and the etiquette speech act classification of Chunying Hua and Zakharova answer the reporter’s questions on the similarities and differences of etiquette speech behavior expressions and their influencing factors.This paper is divided into an introduction,four chapters of the main text,a conclusion and references.The introduction mainly introduces the research background of this thesis,the value and significance of the selected topic,the research method,the innovative point of the selected topic and the source of the corpus of this thesis.The first chapter explains the relevant theories and concepts.Firstly,it introduces the research status of speech act theory and speech etiquette theory at home and abroad;secondly,it interprets diplomatic discourse and etiquette speech acts.The second chapter starts with three specific types of etiquette speech acts:refusal speech act,suggestion speech act,thanking speech act,and analyzes the expression means of speech acts of Chinese and Russian foreign ministry spokespersons in the compiled corpus.The third chapter analyzes the similarities and differences in the expressions of courtesy speech and behavior of the foreign ministry spokespersons of China and Russia,based on the statistical data obtained in the second chapter.The fourth chapter discusses the factors that affect the similarities and differences of the means of expression of polite speech acts in Sino-Russian diplomatic discourse,mainly from two aspects: contextual factors and pragmatic strategy factors.The conclusion part summarizes the research results of this paper.While verifying the previous research results,this paper extends the comparative study of Chinese and Russian etiquette speech acts.The author hopes that through the research on the means of expression of etiquette speech and behavior in Sino-Russian diplomatic discourse,the Russian major students can deepen their understanding of the relevant Russian expressions,so as to achieve the purpose of mastering and accurate application;Cross-cultural communication skills,contribute little to the cultivation of Russian talents in the new era.
