In 1348,The Black Death broke out in England for the first time,which dealt serious strike to English population and economy.However,the wool-woollen industry in Britain has not declined,instead,it has made great development under this background.During this period,the production and export of woollen in England increased,which is opposite to the trend of population in England after the Black Death.Although the industry had a good development environment relatively before 1350s,the impact of the Black Death on this industry should be focused.After the Black Death,with the rise in wages and prices,the surviving people are willing to move to areas with higher wages in pursuit of higher salaries.Affected by this,a large-scale of migration in England happened.The manpower of woollen industry has been supplemented and the scale of the industry has been expanded.This change influenced sheepfarming and woollen industry both:On the one hand,the increasing of wools demand prompted the manager of manors to expand the scale of sheepfarming actively;On the other hand,urban and rural woollen industry uses their own advantages to produce luxury and cheaper cloths respectively,and a benign cooperation between urban and rural woollen industries has been formed objectively.With the development of domestic woollen industry,the status of denizen draperies has improved,their political and economic influence expanded and it promoted the export of woollen cloths.However,at the same time,the Black Death also caused the decline of the labor quality of wool-woollen industry and the shrinkage of the domestic wool market in England.
