| As an ancient literary and art criticism term in China,"qiyunshengdong" has appeared as far back as the Wei Jin Southern and Northern Dynasties.During the long period of time,it has spanned different literary and artistic fields such as poetry, calligraphy and painting, and has developed and evolved in various art disciplines, hence taking on rich connotation.Because of its early emergence and long development and evolution, this term occupies an important position in the field of classical literature and art.At present, the academic circles have made relatively rich study on this term. For example, famous scholars such as Zong Baihua,Qian Zhongshu,Li Zehou,Yu Min and Zhang Kunxi have discussed"qiyunshengdong".However,in the past, scholars usually studied it from theory to theory, and few researchers have discussed it in combination with the text.Mainly based on the relevant research of previous scholars, focusing on the poetic and painting characteristics of"qiyunshengdong",this thesis draws upon the text A New Account of Tales of the World and integrates the literature, text and literary theories from the perspective of writing characters so as to explore the characteristics of "qiyunshengdong" in writing characters in this novel. The introduction redefines the connotation and extension of "qiyunshengdong" by reviewing the previous academic research on "qiyunshengdong",then explains the significance and value of the current research. The first chapter mainly discusses the "bixing"tradition of pursuing poetry in A New Account of Tales of the World, and the characteristics of describing human and things by the poetic method of "image comparison".The main point is that the novel follows the character writing logic of "taking all bodies close and all things far",comparing people with image symbols having cultural implicit meaning, comparing animals, plants and mineral objects with characters’physical appearance, and comparing clothes, headgears, shoes and accessories with characters’ identity and temperament.Taking the images full of the cultural connotation as the basic point, this method creates unlimited writing space for the characters, and creates a character aesthetic feeling of "zhenzhibuqiong" in the vast space. The second chapter mainly discusses the attainments of writing characters in A New Account of Tales of the World inherited and developed from Gu Kaizhi’s painting technique of"chuanshen".The main point of view is that this novel applies Gu Kaizhi’s classic style of"dianjing" and "yisanmao".This style highlights the dynamic spirit of the characters, breaks through the focus on the "subtle and meticulous" part in the Chuanshen theory, and expands it by outlining the figure’s body with lines and showing the character’s temperament with a simple "baimiao" technique. From beginning to end, following the "simple" logic of writing characters, the character aesthetic feeling of "huanghushengdong" is created. The third chapter mainly discusses how A New Account of Tales of the World writes characters with the composition method of arranging position. It is believed that the novel is good at starting from the macro whole, bringing the landscape, nature and group images of people into its own realm of writing characters so as to write the beauty of people sitting opposite through mountains and rivers, the beauty of human harmony through rain, snow, wind and frost and the beauty of human awakening through time and space in the universe. At the same time, the comparison method of making a contrast between the two and the highlighting method of letting three people form a group show the vivid charm of the characters. In a word,A New Account of Tales of the World integrates poetic spirits and picturesque ideas, creates the character aesthetic feeling of "zhenzhibuqiong" by the method of image comparison, and creates the character style of "huanghushengdong" by the "chuanshen"painting technique. At the same time,it uses the way of management and arrangement, seeing the micro from the macro and the individual from the whole, and integrates nature and human society into the realm of writing characters, and constructs the beautiful realm of"qiyunshengdong" by the method of composition. This realm of writing characters, just as what Hu Yinglin of the Ming Dynasty said in Shaoshi Mountain House Pen Cluster:"when reading its words, the facial charm of Jin people is suddenly vivid, simple and mysterious, which has infinity of true appeal". |
