A Report On Machine Translation And Post-editing Of Application Guide To High Speed Virus Filtration

This report is developed to systematically summarize the completion of a translation project based on the machine translation and post-editing pattern with the author’s own characteristics.It describes the whole process of the project,introduces the editing principles observed by the author,classifies and analyzes machine translation errors,and presents postediting methods and skills.The source text in this report is from a document of a genuine translation project,Application Guide to High Speed Virus Filtration.It consists of five parts,including product description,throughput property,process optimization,virus clearance,and performance test.The content involves technical expertise.During the post-editing,the author has managed to keep the recurrence rate under 80%,and has avoided over-editing to raise the efficiency;has edited the text in recurrence groups to speed up the process,and has ensured the consistency in formatting and text by applying software tools;has applied the three-step editing method to catch each error while making the target text smooth and technical.This translation practice has proved the applicability and efficiency of MTPE in translating technical texts.It is instructive when studying MTPE and provides a new option for translators not familiar with MTPE.
