English is the most widely used by people in the world today.With the gradual reform and development of education,English vocabulary plays an important role in English vocabulary teaching of primary schools.Among them,the most frequently used teaching method in today’s English class of primary school is game teaching.However,compared with cities,teaching equipment,infrastructure and learning environment are relatively weak in rural primary schools.The number of students and the scale of rural primary schools are gradually shrinking.There are still many problems in the application of game teaching in rural areas.Therefore,this paper has important practical significance for the investigation of game activities in English vocabulary teaching in rural primary schools.This paper adopts the research method of questionnaire,interview and classroom observation.Five rural primary schools in Longjing city were selected as the research objects.It investigates the current situation of using game activities and find out the main problems in English vocabulary teaching in rural primary schools.It also discusses how to effectively apply game activities to English vocabulary teaching in rural primary schools.This paper intends to solve the following three questions:1.What types of games are involved in English vocabulary teaching in rural primary schools in Longjing city? 2.How does the game activities used in English vocabulary teaching in rural primary schools in Longjing city affect students’ learning attitudes and classroom participation? 3.What are the problems in English vocabulary teaching in rural primary schools in Longjing city? How to improve?The results show that the types of games used in English vocabulary teaching in rural primary schools in Longjing city include practice games,competition games,expansion games and action games.The problems of game activities in primary School English vocabulary teaching are as follows:1.The form of English game activities is single;2.Low participation of students in classroom games;3.Teachers lack reasonable evaluation of students;4.Schools lack training for teachers.This study puts forward some suggestions on the use of games of English vocabulary teaching in rural primary schools in Longjing City combined with the actual situation of rural primary school students : 1.Enhance the awareness of innovation and enrich the types of games;2.Create a good learning atmosphere and increase the participation of games;3.Pay attention to teachers’ reasonable evaluation and give effective feedback to students;4.The schools strengthen teacher training and change the fixed teaching mode.This paper investigates the use of game activities in English vocabulary teaching in rural primary schools in Longjing city and proposes corresponding solutions,so as to provide experience and reference of English vocabulary teaching in primary schools in Longjing city and other similar rural areas.
