A Goat-centered Interpretation Of Images And Village Cultural Order

This paper takes goat as a clue,through literature review and field investigation,analyzes the relationship and significance of goat to the establishment of cultural order in some villages of Lisu in Xinshan.The goat in Xinshan area are not only ordinary livestock and things on the table.As different things,goat have different meanings to the real life and cultural life of the Lisu.goat have become commodities,sacred objects,gifts,etc.,and continue to circulate in the network of cultural order.This paper aims to explore the way in which goat participate in the establishment and generation of the village cultural order through the process of buying,selling,consuming,ritual life and exchange of goat,and how the village cultural order reacts on the inheritance of goat culture and tradition.It is mainly divided into six parts: the first part,based on the relevant research review,gives a brief overview of the geographical location and livelihood model,the origin,family and social structure of the Lisu;The second part describes the process of goat flowing and being consumed as food and commodities,and explores the edible value and economic value of goat.Around goat,a reciprocal,mutual aid and polyphonic aggregate of goat,cultivated land and crops has been formed.People to people,villages to towns,and goat as a bridge to establish communication.In short,goat became the material basis for the establishment of relevant cultural order;The third part is an overview of the use of goat in the religious beliefs and rituals of the Lisu,as well as an analysis of the functions and symbols of goat in religious beliefs and rituals.goat is an integral part of the religious beliefs of the Lisu,which completes the ritual life of the Lisu.goat participated in the establishment of the religious order of the Lisu as a bridge between sacrifice and God;The fourth part focuses on the exchange of goat as gifts,exploring the participation of goat in the construction of Xinshan local interpersonal network,and showing the emotional entanglements between local people through the above process.Based on the circulation of goat,the order of blood relatives,in laws,neighborhood relations and other interpersonal relations;The fifth part summarizes the role of goat in the secular order and belief order of the Lisu through the above discussion on the function and symbol of goat: goat become a tool to establish and maintain interpersonal communication,improve the level of relatives,and reflect self-identity;It is the catalyst for the inheritance of ethnic memory,religious belief and life etiquette.
