A Report On The Translation Of AI In Healthcare:How Artificial Intelligence Is Changing IT Operations And Infrastructure Services(Chapter Ⅰ)

The translation material is selected from Chapter I of the book AI in Healthcare:How Artificial Intelligence Is Changing IT Operations and Infrastructure Services.This book focuses on great pressure of the healthcare system brought by the spread of COVID-19 pandemic,and proposes that the fusion of AI and the healthcare industry can help with the configuration of healthcare system,which is beneficial for the optimization of the healthcare system in China.The Chapter I mainly introduces the basic information of AI and Healthcare Information Technology,which is helpful with a better understanding of Artificial Intelligence Operations at abroad.According to the classification of text types by Katharina Reiss,the book is informative text,which means the target text should convey the original information faithfully and smoothly.Both literal translation and free translation are adopted to make the translation readable.This report consists of four parts:introduction of translation task,description of translation process,case analysis and summary,of which case analysis is the most important part of this report.The translator summarized difficulties encountered during translation on the level of lexis,syntax and discourse,and found solutions.At the lexical level,the word meaning is not easy to handle with.For the words in various contexts,the translator firstly recognizes the original meaning of the words,and then selects the right expressions by addition,extension of word-meaning and conversion of part-of-speech based on their specific context.On the level of syntax,the source text is characterized with multiple clauses,modifiers and additional components,etc..The translator clarifies the relationship of sentence components,and then makes the translation readable by adopting methods of word-order adjustment and splitting.From the aspect of discourse,as it is difficult to handle the logic among the sentences and context correspondence,the translator needs to read the source text&the targeted text for many times and then adopts cohesive and coherent sentences to make the translation faithful and fluent.By this practice,the translator has learned more about Artificial Intelligence&Healthcare Information Technology and began to know how to solve difficulties during translation.Besides,It is hoped that this report can provide reference for translators.
