Jia Pingwa Studies On "Disease Writing" In His Novels Since The New Century

Disease is an inevitable existence in the development of human society.Correspondingly,disease writing has always been the focus of literary creation.When the disease is written in literature,the disease will have a meaning beyond pathology.Writers reflect the essence of life through disease writing,and touching people’s soul has become an important direction of “disease writing”.Taking Jia Pingwa’s new century novels as the research object,this paper aims to reveal the narrative value and humanistic value of “disease writing” in these works,as well as its significance to the construction of “Chinese style” disease poetics.As far as the narrative value is concerned,the diseases in Jia Pingwa’s new century novels cover two types: physiological and psychological.These two types of diseases are intertwined,providing a new entry point for the characterization and plot development.The writing of the characters’ physical diseases,psychological diseases and infectious diseases reflects the new perspective of characterization,especially the new possibility of characterization;The writing of the characters’ living environment,social relations and inner gap has formed a new dimension of plot development;The role of “disease” in the plot development,character evolution and theme sublimation of the works highlights the unique narrative value of Jia Pingwa’s disease writing.From the perspective of humanistic value,this paper interprets the “disease writing”of Jia Pingwa’s new century novels from three aspects: civilization,times and social and historical process.Jia Pingwa put the disease writing on the multiple intersection of urban and rural civilization,spiritual civilization and mysterious culture,thus realizing the reflection on modern civilization;In the writing of diseases,Jia Pingwa presented the “symptoms” of the times from the perspectives of the relationship between diseases and the times,the impact of diseases on reality,and the unique cultural psychology of the patients;The extensive use of disease metaphors is a unique way for Jia Pingwa to think about the social and historical process.Jia Pingwa’s disease writing provides a reference for the construction of Chinese disease poetics.Jia Pingwa’s disease writing has his own profound and lasting experience.The patient’s sensitivity,especially his inferiority complex,provides him with a unique narrative perspective and style of judging ugliness.Taking a general view of Jia Pingwa’s “disease writing” has the significance of poetic construction,and it has great enlightenment and research value from the two dimensions of ideological meaning and literary form.
