A Study On Xiao Jiefu’s "Ethical Alienation" Thought

Mr.Xiao Jiefu is a famous contemporary historian of philosophy in my country,and the founder of the school of "Luojia Chinese Philosophy".The theory of "ethical alienation" is the insight put forward by Xiao Jiefu when he discusses the enlightenment thought in the early Ming and Qing Dynasties,and it is also the key concept of his "theory of enlightenment in the early Ming and Qing Dynasties".The philosophical background of the "ethical alienation" theory proposed by Xiao Jiefu is Kant’s Enlightenment theory,Marx’s "alienation" theory and the all-round development concept of human beings.He believed that the religious consciousness of the Chinese traditional society was weak and the ethical problem was heavy,so by analogy,the concept of ethical alienation was deduced from the religious alienation that the West had to fight when it came out of the Middle Ages.Xiao Jiefu defined the resistance to ethical alienation as the core task of Chinese philosophical enlightenment,which has endogenous and specific connotation.He believes that in the process of early Enlightenment scholars resisting "ethical alienation",there are internal historical roots and shoots of modernization in national cultural traditions,that is,"historical junctures".From the Han Dynasty to the Song-Ming Dynasties,the ideological history of "ethical alienation" unfolded into a historical process from "theological preaching" to "philosophical demonstration",which was highlighted in Dong Zhongshu’s theological theory of "the source of the three bonds [ between sovereign and minister,husband and wife and father son ] can be sought in Heaven ",the social concept of "filial piety" in the Han Dynasty,the true metaphysics of "the origin of the Confucian ethical code lies in the natural " and the philosophical arguments of Neo-Confucian scholars."Ethical alienation" presents three forms of theology,philosophy and social concept with the changes of the times.The occurrence features of "ethical alienation" includes three aspects: Confucian traditional ethics supremacy,the combination of ethical alienation and imperial power,and the deceptive cloak on ethical alienation.Xiao Jiefu believes that the resistance to "ethical alienation" is mainly reflected in Taoism and early unorthodox "heretic" thinkers and enlightenment scholars in the Ming and Qing dynasties.In the process of their resistance to "ethical alienation","cultural tolerance",the cultural ideal of "from mix to pure" and the modern value of new morality of individual liberation,science and democracy have sprung up.Xiao Jiefu participated in the cultural discussion in the 1980 s with an active attitude.The main value of the "ethical alienation" proposed by Xiao Jiefu compared with the assertions of other contemporary scholars on ethical issues is reflected in its stand from the standpoint of distinct Marxism,it is the result of the deepening of the early enlightenment theory and has sufficient ideological historical basis.Xiao Jiefu’s "ethical alienation" still has important warning significance in contemporary society.
