A Study Of The History Of Neolithic Archaeology In The Three Gorges Area

In the 1920s,foreign exploration activities have been carried out in the Three Gorges area,which is one of the earliest areas to carry out archaeological research in China.Scientific archaeological activities began with sporadic investigations in the early days of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the implementation of the Three Gorges cultural relics protection project.This area has become one of the areas with the densest sites in China.Archaeological excavations indicate,that the interaction between the Neolithic archaeological culture in this area and the surrounding areas has formed a complex cultural landscape.At the same time,the research on the evolution between the Paleolithic Age and Neolithic,environmental archaeology,animal and plant archaeology is also carried out in this area,which greatly enriches the connotation of Neolithic Archaeology in this area.Taking the discovery and research history of Neolithic archaeological materials in the Three Gorges area as the main research object,combined with the construction process of the Three Gorges Hydroelectric Power Station.this paper divides the development of Neolithic Archaeology in the Three Gorges area into three periods:the initial stage from 1949 to 1970,the development stage from 1971 to 1990,and the prosperity stage after 1991.In the initial stage,because the country carried out a large area of infrastructure construction activities,the Neolithic archaeological activities in the Three Gorges area mainly carried out a large area of field investigation.In the development stage,The Neolithic archaeological activities in the Three Gorges area mainly excavated sites such as the Zhongbaodao site and Chengbeixi site in the Hubei province and fieldwork in Chongqing province.The background of these activities is that the construction of the Gezhouba Dam water conservancy project started building.During the prosperous stage,the Neolithic archaeological activities in the Three Gorges area were carried out large-scale field excavations,and the background was the construction of the Three Gorges Hydroelectric Power Station.This paper uses the method of internal and external history correlation to study the Neolithic archaeological history of the Three Gorges area and combs the internal and external history of Neolithic Archaeology in the Three Gorges area since the founding of the People’s Republic of China.This paper summarizes the characteristics of the development of Neolithic Archaeology in _It_Ihe Three Gorges area.Further analysis shows that the Three Gorges Hydroelectric Power Station is the main driving force for the development of Neolithic Archaeology in the Three Gorges area and even all archaeological research in the Three Gorges area.This paper also discusses the significance of Neolithic archaeological research in the Three Gorges Area in finding the source of Ba culture,the transformation of Paleolithic and Neolithic and the origin of the Yangtze River civilization.This paper systematically studies the development of Neolithic Archaeology in the Three Gorges area,and comprehensively summarizes the practical experience and research results in the Three Gorges area.It is expected to be helpful to promote the archaeological work and archaeological research in the Three Gorges area,and to help the dissemination of Neolithic Archaeology in the Three Gorges area among the public.It also provides ideas for the coordinated development between later engineering construction and archaeological research.
