Public Art Interventions In The Communalization Transformation Of Urban Industrial Relics

In the past 20 years,the transformation of urban industrial heritage in my country has been the most representative of first-tier cities such as Shanghai and Beijing.where cheap rents and generous creative space have attracted artists and art schools,forging the formation of a renewal model based on creative industrial parks.In recent years,with the rapid development of urbanization and the rise of new industries in China,more and more people are gathering in cities from all directions for work and other reasons,leading to an increasing tension in urban land.Rent increases in creative industrial parks have led to artists and others moving out,and urban factories are facing a second decline.Along with the increasing overall demand for quality living space from society at large,public art intervention in community practice is no longer the traditional way of improving the community environment,but focuses more on the importance of public participation in community activities and community transformation.This paper takes the community renewal of industrial heritage as the research object,with the background of industrial heritage protection.Firstly,an overview of the concepts and theories of the research content of the thesis is given.By analysis the relationship between industrial heritage and industrial heritage,the concept of communalization regeneration of industrial heritage is elaborated,thus defining the scope of this paper.Secondly,we Analysis and summary the current situation and problems of public art interventions in the transformation of industrial heritage in China,combining four types of industrial heritage communities transformation cases: workers’ settlements,traditional residential community,complex community parks,and real estate oriented incidental development,and conclude that public art interventions in the communalization regeneration of industrial heritage include public facilities,installation art,wall painting art(street graffiti art),and public participation in art activities.Finally,following the above-mentioned research,the new direction of the transformation from a "single model to a composite model" and from a "cultural and creative park to a cultural and creative community" is elaborated for public art intervention in the communalization transformation of industrial heritage.The new direction of the transformation from a single model to a composite model,and from a cultural and creative park to a cultural and creative community,proposes a bottom-up and top-down strategy for the transformation of industrial relics into a community,with diversified transformation according to local conditions,in situ transformation with public participation,holistic conservation and reuse.It is hoped that through the transformation of industrial heritage sites into community public spaces and leisure and entertainment venues with industrial cultural heritage,a diverse range of community public spaces can be established,establishing a closer connection between community residents and public spaces,and enhancing the sense of well-being and belonging of the majority of urban residents.
