The Italian composer Vincenzo Bellini(1801-1835)was an important representative of 19th-century European Romantic opera composers.During his short life,he composed many influential operas and art songs. In particular,in the early 19 th century, during the "New Aesthetic Period",he composed art songs that did not seek to be flashy, but rather focused on the expression of emotions and the expression of the characters’ inner feelings. His art songs are elegant, integrated with the lyrics and piano accompaniment, and not lacking in independence. This thesis is based on personal artistic practice and focuses on four of Bellini’s art songs with different styles:“ Little Butterfly,A Fervent Wish,The Wandering Moon, and The Wandering Moonlight.”This paper is divided into three parts: the first part outlines the achievements and characteristics of Bellini’s art songs;the second part specifically analyses the musical characteristics and singing practice of Bellini’s art songs. The third part summarises the practical significance of Bellini’s art songs for vocal learning. The aim of this paper is to improve one’s singing level and musicianship through the study of Bellini’s art songs. It also aims to provide some reference for vocal learners who are also exploring Bellini’s art songs.
