With the global economic integration and the rapid development of Internet technology,the digital revolution has played a pivotal role in the global economic development,which has greatly promoted the rapid development of the digital economy.The 2019 DIGITAL ECONOMY REPORT is a research report of United Nations Conference on Trade and Development(UNCTAD)on the development of global digital economy in 2019.It provides development suggestions for developing countries in e-commerce and digital economy,and helps them accelerate the pace of digital revolution.As an indispensable member of the world economy,it is imperative for China to understand and study the development trend of the global digital economy.Therefore,the translation of 2019 DIGITAL ECONOMY REPORT is of great significance.However,in view of the differences between English and Chinese and the characteristics of the text,the translation should not only be acceptable to the target readers,but also convey information accurately.This is the main challenge for translators.Guided by Chesterman’s translation norm theory,this practice report summarizes,analyzes and studies the difficulties in the translation project of 2019 Digital Economy Report.The major difficulties are as follows: First,there is a big gap in linguistic style between the source text and the target text.How to bridge the gap through translation to accurately convey information is a major challenge.Secondly,the source text contains numerous professional terms,and how to use standardized translation methods to improve the acceptability and information function of the translation is another problem.Lastly,how to improve the quality of translation through specific translation norms is another difficulty for the translator.In order to solve the translation difficulties listed above,the author refers to relevant translation theories,parallel texts and related documents.In translation practice,the author follows the following translation principles: Choosing translation strategies under Chesterman’s expectancy norm to meet readers’ expectations and improve the acceptability of the target text,and solving translation difficulties at the micro level under the guidance of professional norms.As for the choice of specific translation strategies,the translator’s translation methods at syntactic level include conversion of cohesion,language unit and sentence structure,etc.;translation methods at semantic level include abstraction,paraphrasing and using synonym,etc.;translation rules at pragmatic level include employing annotation and change of explicitness,etc.Through the above methods,the completeness and clarity of information transmission in target text can be achieved.
