The harmonious construction of relations between men and women cannot be achieved without progress and innovation, and it is necessary to confront "feminism" and to listen to the authentic voices of both sexes;art,as a creative activity, has a unique role to play in dismantling traditional ideas and building new ones.Cui’s work is distinctly feminist, with a strong focus on female subjects. This paper examines Cui’s artwork from a feminist critical perspective, using theoretical approaches from psychology, iconography, sociology, and other fields to analyze and interpret Cui’s painting in an attempt to explore Cui’s critical awareness of patriarchal society and her sense of the female subject,to add value to the graphic language of Cui’s work, and to present a more profound aesthetic in her images. At the same time,it builds Cui’s complete artistic path, summarizes her experiences and shortcomings, and provides inspiration for feminist art practice and the emancipation of gender concepts. The core of this thesis is the external characteristics and internal implications of Cui’s artwork in a feminist context. The first chapter introduces Cui’s artistic life, outlines the three stages of her artistic production, and compares the development of feminist art and feminist art criticism;the second uses iconography to explore the gender themes in Cui’s artworks, exploring her resistance to and purging of social consciousness of the traditional patriarchal order, her reflection on social issues, and her presentation of feminist subjectivity. The third chapter examines the specific characters in Cui’s work, describing and analyzing girls, women, and men and discussing how she uses a variety of creative media and artistic language to create culturally significant characters. This is based on an analysis of the cultural attributes behind Cui’s pictorial language.Chapter 4summarizes the aesthetic characteristics of Cui’s work, such as "whispering" and "metaphorical," and illustrates how her move from "gender space" to "spiritual space" has implications for today’s art.The fourth chapter summarizes Cui’s artistic path from "gender space" to "spiritual space." Further,it affirms the value and significance of her work to the development of contemporary Chinese culture and art.Cui’s artistic path is characterized by pluralism and growth, with each stage having a distinctive creative pursuit.Still,in general,Cui’s art is distinctly feminist. Her artworks reveal the unique experiences of women from a female perspective. They are closely integrated with the reality of female existence in Chinese society, demonstrating the deeper socio-cultural reasons behind many gender issues and developing a personal artistic style. Her concern for individual gender identity led to a concern for the survival of women as a group, which eventually extended to a respect for the human spirit as a whole, coinciding with feminist aspirations.Cui’s work will positively impact the development of contemporary feminist art and the cause of gender liberation.
