A Report On The Application Of Information Retrieval In The Translation Of Communication Media Texts

This report aims to study the application of information retrieval in the translation of communication media texts.It focuses on the importance of information retrieval and the application of information retrieval methods in the translation process.In order to solve the problems in translation,this report uses information tools and divides information retrieval methods into two categories.One is scenario-based information retrieval,including search engine retrieval,literature database retrieval and electronic dictionary retrieval;the other is strategy-based information retrieval,including Boolean retrieval,relevant information retrieval,text tracing retrieval,parallel text retrieval and multiple retrieval.Finally,the report analyzes translation examples based on the retrieval methods and makes conclusions.The report finds that translators can choose a variety of information retrieval methods according to the features of the original text,such as the features in form,structure and content.Based on the above findings,we conclude that translators can make use of various information retrieval tools and methods,which are conducive to improving the efficiency and the quality of translation,thus making the target text more accurate and professional.
