| Classroom questioning is the most common way for teachers in teaching activities.It can promote the interaction between teachers and students,cultivate students’ divergent thinking and improve their expression ability.As one of the most common teaching forms in English class,questioning plays a great role in promoting language acquisition.Based on this,many experts have carried out researches on classroom questioning and its effectiveness.While there are many researches on the effectiveness of English classroom questioning,few of them are on the effectiveness of English classroom questioning in rural junior high schools.In this study,a questionnaire survey was conducted on 100 students in2 classes of the seventh grade of a junior high school in a township in Shandong Province,and three teachers were observed and interviewed in class.The effectiveness of questions in rural junior high school English classrooms,from the types of classroom questions,the waiting time after questioning,and the feedback after questioning,plays a vital role in improving the quality of English classroom teaching in rural junior high schools and students’ enthusiasm for learning.Through the analysis of this study,it is found that there exist some problems in the current countryside junior high school English classroom questioning,mainly manifested in the lack of ability of rural junior high school English teachers to design classroom problems,single type of classroom questioning,simple questions,single way to ask questions,insufficient potential tapping to students,relatively simple feedback of teachers to students’ questions,namely some simple praise or incentive classroom questioning type single,simple question,question is a single way,students’ potential is insufficient.To address these problems,teachers should consolidate their theoretical knowledge reserve of classroom teaching to improve their ability of problems designing,study effective classroom questioning skills,enrich question types,grasp the intonation and speed of questioning,enrich ways of questioning,enrich the evaluation methods,give positive feedback to students and put forward specific strategies to improve the effectiveness of rural junior high school English classroom.It is hoped that the research of this paper will provide help and inspiration to improve the present situation of questioning in rural junior high school English class and solve the problems existing in questioning in rural junior high school English class. |
