| Escher was a Dutch printmaker in the twentieth century. He was not recognized by the mainstream artist group in his time.On the contrary, many professionals in other disciplines praised his works, especially some mathematicians and physicists..Mr.Yang Zhenning once used Escher’s "Knight" as a cover image in his "A Brief History of Elementary Particle Discovery".Now,with the spread of his work in the fields of graphic design and visual communication, more and more people are beginning to know about Escher,an unusual artist. His works surprise almost every viewer.Viewers are not only amazed by the exquisite drawing techniques of his works, but also amazed by the logical and paradoxical fantasy world constructed by the author in his works.Escher’s works have complex and contradictory spatial structures. These works greatly enrich the expression of the two-dimensional plane to the three-dimensional world, and even go beyond the three-dimensional reality. The interdisciplinary principles of "infinity","circulation" and "paradox" embodied in his works have completely opened the viewer’s curiosity to the intersecting parts of various fields.Combined with my own professional direction, the various expressions in Escher’s works are more resources for me to learn and learn from-the transformation of perspectives in his works, the organization of space, and the simultaneous expression of multiple time, space and multiple scenes.,to a large extent can be borrowed and applied to the creation of murals to help me better lead the viewer into the story I want to build.Starting from his interdisciplinary nature, studying him can also help me switch to a new perspective to re-examine and define some concepts in my original field of expertise.Starting from specific works,it is possible to discover specific features and methods that can be used for reference in the composition and narrative of murals. Therefore, this topic is of great significance for integrating the research results of Escher’s artistic style, enriching the methods of fresco creation, broadening the thinking angle of painting, and promoting the integration and application of some concepts between different disciplines. This paper will use the literature analysis method, interdisciplinary research method, case study method and comparative research method to conduct ontological and external research on Escher,so as to comprehensively discuss the artistic style generated by Escher’s creative career, classify and analyze the types of his works, discuss the interdisciplinary principles contained and embodied in the works, and his inspiration for mural creation. Finally, the self-created examples are used to apply and reflect the research results of this paper, and the theoretical results are specifically applied to the creative practice. This is not only a study of Escher’s artistic style, but also an innovation in the research angle and application of results, hoping that this paper can provide more thinking angles, theoretical references and methodologies for mural creators. |
