Under the trend of Retro Style in Zhao Mengfu in Yuan Dynasty,Yang Weizhen did not go with the flow, but innovated Zhao’s concept of Retro Style with "Wang Xizhi and Wang Xianzhi",by incorporating the unique taste of epigraphy and the bizarre and vigorous wild spirit of Zhuanli inscription into the meaning of "ancient",and introducing the original "style" of loveliness and gentleness into the wanton and straightforward creation and change. The personal spirit and temperament can blend with writing more deeply, which provides an excellent model for the function of "describing character" of calligraphy art.Based on this achievement of Yang Weizhen, combined with his rough life experience, upright personal character, and learning experience of visiting famous steles in mountains, this paper interprets his fierce inner contradictions and profound literary and artistic resume, reveals the formation of Yang Weizhen’s calligraphy style in his later years by comparing Huyue Pavilion and Collection Letter fot Zhenjing Nunnery in his later years, and then discusses his historical position in the concept of calligraphy through related poetic clues,.
