Ruth Duckworth is an outstanding female ceramicist born in Hamburg,Germany in1919.Her work is full of the beauty of fragility and strength coexisting with modernism.This article intends to explore the origin of the unique and fragile aesthetic formal language of Ruth Duckworth’s ceramic works from the perspective of her upbringing,social background,and living environment.At the same time,we analyze the fragility and strength contained in Ruth’s works.And research and study her ideas in the creative process,and the influence of Ruth Duckworth’s pottery works on my creation.Learn to combine and apply them to your own pottery creations.Ruth Duckworth,as an excellent potter,currently has no complete literature about her records and studies in China.Therefore,this article attempts to further explore the artist’s creative concept and creative language on the basis of existing foreign materials.On the one hand,this paper explores the unique fragility and strength of the language of ceramic sculpture from the perspective of creation,work language,creative method,formal expression and other aspects,and on the other hand,through its research,it expands the enlightenment and influence on my personal creation..The first chapter of this article explores Ruth Duckworth’s life and social background to understand its fragile origin,and how she draws strength from life challenges,and other artists have a good understanding of Ruth Duckworth’s life and social background.She has two influences to understand her growing up in fragility and accumulating strength.The second chapter analyzes the development of Ruth Duckworth’s ideas of fragility and strength through her creative methods,creative themes,and creative ideas.The third chapter analyzes how fragility and strength are expressed in Ruth Duckworth’s works and the symbolic evolution of fragility and strength through three aspects of Ruth Duckworth’s ceramics,wall decorations and sculptures.The fourth chapter mainly describes Ruth Duckworth’s influence and enlightenment on me in three aspects: creative theme,artistic language and craft practice mode.
