On The Building Space Of Pottery Building In Han Dynasty

This thesis is a research on the shape and space of pottery buildings in the Han Dynasty.Pottery building refers to the shape of pottery that imitates the buildings in the real life of the Han Dynasty.It is an important part of the plastic art of the Han Dynasty.Today,traditional culture has increasingly becoming the center of culture,the author can learn from the existing physical objects,pictures,and text materials to study the pottery buildings in the Han Dynasty.The artistic expression techniques of modeling and space that can be used for reference in the building.This article first starts with the production method,and analyzes it from three aspects: material characteristics,production concept and coloring.Regarding the material language of pottery clay,it focuses on analyzing the influence of the material characteristics of pottery clay itself on the shape of pottery buildings during the production process;the concept of “building the shape with utensils”was put forward in the production concept;the expression of the space consciousness of the craftsmen of the Han Dynasty was discussed in the color painting of the pottery building.Secondly,the modeling characteristics of the pottery building are analyzed with illustrations.Because the Han people are influenced by the funeral concept of “death is like life”,the modeling of the pottery buildings involve all aspects of life at that time.The three modeling characteristics of“viewing objects and taking images”,“simple and freehand brushwork”and “mysterious freedom”,and different expression techniques bring people different levels of spatial perception.“Observing objects and taking images” reflects that the shape of the pottery building comes from real life and reproduces the real life scenes of the Han people as much as possible;“Humble and simple freehand brushwork” is the embodiment of the free creative technique of the craftsmen in the Han Dynasty,which vividly portrays the characters and animals in the pottery building;“Mysterious and free” shape incorporates the the Han people’s pursuit and imagination of the concept of “becoming immortals”.These modeling features condensed the romantic ideas of the Han people in the pottery building.Finally,the spatial structure of pottery buildings are summarized into three aspects: “internal and external space”,“rising space”,and “imagination space”to discuss its different symbolic meanings.“Inner and Outer Space” discusses the soul destination of the pottery building as the owner of the tomb to travel and live;"rising space" is an optical illusion brought about by the overlapping eaves of the pottery building,which is a metaphor for the pottery building as an ideal way to ascend to the sky;“Imagination space” is the expression of Han people’s thoughts on ascending immortals,relying on the shapes of vermilion birds and phoenixes to achieve the imagination of fairyland.The production of pottery buildings in the Han Dynasty is based on the funeral concept of “death is like life”.The pottery buildings are diverse in shape,integrating reality and imagination,creating an ideal for the living space after death,reflecting the Han people’s attitude towards death.The pursuit of infinite rear space.The research of this paper takes the specific pottery building modeling as an example,analyzes the diverse modeling techniques and the concept of space scene creation in the pottery buildings in the Han Dynasty,and provides a new perspective for the study of the modeling in the Han Dynasty.
