Research On International Film Festivals In China-Based On Actor-Network Theory

As China continues to open up to the outside world,international film festivals in China are also booming.In addition to the Shanghai International Film Festival with the longest history,the Beijing International Film Festival,which has been held for ten years,has gradually become an important international film exchange center in the region.Although Pingyao International Film Festival is an emerging international film festival,its distinctive features greatly enrich the ecological diversity of Chinese film festivals.This paper takes the international film festivals in China as the research object,and uses the actor network theory to analyze the international film festivals in China.The first chapter of this paper sorts out the domestic and foreign academic research on international film festivals,introduces the core viewpoints of act or-network theory,divides the actors in the international film festival network,and constructs the actor network framework of the international film festival.The second chapter which is starting from the problematisation of the actor network translation process,through a comparative analysis with Hong Kong international film festival,this paper clarifies the goals and positioning of the Shanghai International Film Festival and the Beijing International Film Festival,and analyzes the The process of accumulating the reputation of the Beijing Film Festival.The third chapter analyzes the venture capital model of the Shanghai International Film Festival from the perspective of interessment and enrolment in the translation process of the actor network,and explores the process of coordinating various actors through the “obligatory point of passage” in the curatorial process of international film festivals.The fourth chapter analyzes how the organizer of the Pingyao International Film Festival,as a core actor,builds the film festival network through "mobilization",thereby shaping the film festival’s brand and the image of the city.This study found that to maintain the stability of the international film festival network in China,it is necessary to coordinate every mover through translation,thereby promoting the development of international film festivals and enhancing their cultural influence on a regional and global scale.Only through the construction and reasonable configuration of the network and clarifying the complex relationship of the network,can the influence of China’s international film festivals be enhanced.
