| Grimm’s Fairy Tales is a Collection of German folk fairy tales and stories.collected,sorted and published by the Grimm brothers,including more than 200 fairy tales in total.It was first translated into China in 1902,which triggered a boom in translation and dissemination and had a profound impact on the field of children’s literature.For a long time,the academic circle has rich research achievements on Grimm’s Fairy Tales,involving communication,German literature,children’s education,ecological ethics and many other aspects.This paper studies the translation,introduction and dissemination of Grimm’s Fairy Tales in modern China.Based on previous studies,it broadens its research horizon,focuses on the translation activities,communication practices and the complex relationship between translators and social culture,and explores the "when to translate","what to translate" and "why to translate".Meanwhile,the readers’ reading,acceptance and feedback of Grimm’s Fairy Tales are investigated.This paper first analyzes the situation of Grimm’s Fairy Tales’ first entry into China.Under the background of the spreading of Western learning to the east and saving the country and the people,western children’s Enlightenment thought entered China,arousing scholars’ attention to children’s reading needs.Thus,As an educational book for children,Grimm’s Fairy Tales was actively translated and widely disseminated by scholars,with the purpose of opening people’s wisdom and cultivating new people.Secondly,it analyzes the characteristics of translation,introduction and dissemination of Grimm’s Fairy Tales in modern times.Modern scholars have not formed a unified standard for the translation of Grimm’s Fairy tales,and the phenomenon of mistranslation is quite common.At the same time,translators pay attention to the processing of foreign cultural elements,so as to facilitate the understanding of Chinese children.In addition,Grimm’s Fairy Tales is not only translated into text,but also presented in various artistic forms,such as adapted into songs,games and movies.Through the study of these art forms,further analysis of Grimm’s Fairy Tales dissemination characteristics.Finally,the translation and introduction of Grimm’s Fairy Tales is investigated under the social and historical background of the Republic of China,and the communication status in different periods as well as the acceptance and feedback of readers are analyzed.With the change of historical background and social trend of thought,the modern intellectual circle’s acceptance of Grimm’s Fairy Tales has been changing,from positive praise in the May 4th Period to doubt and criticism in the 1930 s and 1940 s.The deeper reason for this change is influenced by the social and political environment.In this process,Grimm’s Fairy Tales is endowed with unique literary significance. |
