Shanxi has a rich heritage of temple murals. The number and area of temple murals in Shanxi Province rank first in the country. These temple murals are extremely rich in content. They not only depict character stories and religious content, but also draw a variety of landscape scenes.Whether it is composition layout or texturing, they have strong characteristics of traditional Chinese landscape painting. Therefore, their landscape images also have high artistic research value. However, through literature review,it is found that there is little research on such rich mural landscape images in the province. At present, only the research topic "Research on the landscape schema of Shanxi temple murals" presided over by the team of Zhao Jianzhong, teacher of Taiyuan University of science and technology has a systematic research.Through field visits and investigations, taking the landscape schema as the starting point, this study classifies the temple murals in Shanxi, and summarizes the style and artistic characteristics of various schemas. To sum up,it can be said that the research on landscape images in temple murals in the province is still in the primary stage. This topic takes the murals of Duofu temple in Taiyuan as an example, and takes the landscape images in the murals as the research object. Its contents mainly include the following five parts:The first part is the introduction, which describes in detail the origin, research status, problems to be solved, key and difficult points, innovations and research methods of this topic,so as to explain the purpose and significance of this topic. The second part is an overview of the murals of Duofu temple in Taiyuan, including the development process of Duofu temple, the overview of the murals and the introduction of landscape images in the murals.Among them, the mural landscape image part is the key content of this chapter, mainly including the following three aspects: first, the origin of the temple mural landscape image, briefly combing the records and development process of the landscape content in the Scriptures,so as to provide the basis for the emergence of landscape images in the murals;Second, analyze the relationship between mural landscape image and traditional landscape painting; The third is the research content of landscape images of murals in Duofu temple, including mountains and stones, clouds, flowers and trees, buildings, water, etc.,among which mountains and rivers,Lake stones and boundary painting buildings are the key research objects of this subject. The third part is the comparison of mural landscape images between Duofu temple and Taiyuan Chongshan temple. This chapter mainly uses the comparative analysis method to study the landscape part of the murals of Duofu temple and Chongshan temple, mainly from three aspects: color setting, modeling and composition,of which the composition of landscape scene is the key research content of this chapter. The research idea of the composition part is:according to the different landscape scenes of murals,it can be roughly divided into two categories. One is mainly the palace courtyard. Its biggest feature is that the palace and courtyard occupy the main part of the story scene, but there are still differences in performance. For example, the buildings in the courtyard scene often show the posture of one corner and half of the side, and do not show the internal layout of the building,The palace scene can describe the interior of the building in detail. The fourth part is the research on the aesthetic characteristics and function of the landscape images of Duofu temple murals. In terms of the aesthetic characteristics of the mural landscape image of Duofu temple,it mainly discusses from three aspects: the aesthetic tendency of the courtyard landscape painting in the Ming Dynasty at the same time, the humanistic meaning of the architectural decoration of the boundary painting in the mural, and the "garden" interest of the courtyard scene. In the aesthetic tendency part of the courtyard landscape painting in the Ming Dynasty,it will focus on the relationship between the mural landscape of Duofu temple and the landscape composition style of Mayuan and Xia GUI in the Southern Song Dynasty. In terms of the role of landscape images of murals in Duofu temple,it mainly discusses the decorative role and religious propaganda role rarely mentioned by scholars. The fifth part analyzes the causes of the performance of the landscape images of the murals in Duofu temple.First of all, starting from the general environment of mural painting of Buddhist stories in the Ming Dynasty-"powder version" is the main way of mural painting. The most direct expression of this way of painting is to make the "new work" and "original work" tend to be the same. The sources of influencing factors of this difference are diverse. As far as the Duofu temple is concerned,it is not only affected by the painter’s own adjustment ability, but also has a great relationship with his own status level.Secondly, from the perspective of secular images, this is mainly reflected in the influence of traditional Confucianism and the existing folk image system in the murals of Duofu temple, and the landscape scenes in the murals have appeared in the folk image system in the Ming Dynasty. Finally, from the aesthetic perspective of the times of painting art creation, this mainstream aesthetic fashion also comes from the court standard.
