A Comparative Study Of Painted Pottery In Western Liaoning And Ganqing Area In The Yangshao Period

The archeological cultures of western Liaoning and Ganqing regions Completed and self-contained system.Among many artifacts,painted pottery in western Liaoning appeared in the early stage of Hongshan culture,and painted pottery in Ganqing area was found in the first stage of Dadiwan culture.In comparison,the painted pottery in western Liaoning appeared later,and the painted pottery decoration was quite different from the traditional decoration in the region.This paper discusses the origin and formation process of colored pottery of Hongshan culture in Western Liaoning,based on the comparative study of the shapes and decorations of colored pottery in Western Liaoning and Ganqing regions in the Yangshao era.This paper systematically reviews the archaeological survey,excavation data and previous research results of late Neolithic Age in western Liaoning and Ganqing regions.A comparative study on the typical shapes and decorations of painted pottery shows that the wide stripe decoration in the early Hongshan culture is similar to that in the Ganqing region,and the whirling pattern in the middle and late Hongshan culture is closely related to the arc triangle ornamentation in the Ganqing area.It shows that the color pottery ornamentation represented by the wide stripe decoration and whirling pattern reflects the communication between western Liaoning,Central Plains and Ganqing regions.It can also be found that Ganqing communicate with western Liaoning through the Central Plains,through the discussion of the cultural interaction route of painted pottery.
