As China moves to the center of the world stage, the speeches made by Chinese leaders of government and officials are heard by the world. As an outstanding representative of Chinese political document, the English version of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China Ⅲ is an important window for the international community to understand contemporary China, and ethical issues are involved in the translation. In translating Xi Jinping: The Governance of China Ⅲ,cultural, political and ideological conflicts are inevitable.Translator must measure many values and make the most appropriate choice to coordinate the conflict, which is essentially the role of translation ethics. Therefore,it is particularly necessary to analyze the English version of the political document with the guidance of translation ethics. The present research makes exploration of the English version of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China Ⅲ from the five aspects as ethics of representation, ethics of service, ethics of communication,norm-based ethics and ethics of commitment according to Chesterman’s translation ethics.According to the textual analysis,it is found that Chesterman’s translation ethics models are embodied in Xi Jinping: The Governance of China Ⅲ.The text nature of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China Ⅲ determines that the translators should first follow ethics of representation to represent China’s principles and policies accurately; The English version of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China Ⅲconveys the intention of the service object of the translation, the Chinese government, which follows ethics of service; The purpose of cross-cultural communication is realized and ethics of communication is embodied in the translation; When translating such official political texts, translators face many restrictions, which correspondingly embodies norm-based ethics; Finally, the translator must have good translation morality, which reflects ethics of commitment. In addition, different from the previous translation of political document, translators first choose to consider ethics of service and ethics of communication, rather than pure representation when faced with different ethic models. The research findings provide certain reference for the translation of political document.
