As the NFL continues to improve its overseas market development,the global attention has focused on the world’s largest sports league.This interpreting practice aims to interpret the retirement press conference of Sean Payton,the famous head coach of the New Orleans Saints for many years,so that readers can better understand the operation of professional football games and the connotation of football culture through the perspective and viewpoint of professionals,and thus be able to appreciate football games with a more specialized perception.The value of an item of sports news translation is thus reflected.Press conference interpretation is characterized by immediacy,numerous professional terms as well as repetition and missing phrases in impromptu speeches,which makes it difficult to interpret.Based on Daniel Gile’s Effort Model,this practice report focusing on the energy allocation of interpreters in simultaneous interpretation,attempts to explore the various factors that may trigger interpreting problems.Guided by Gile’s theory,this simulated practice focuses on how to define and extract secondary information as well as how the information is processed after information extraction.By means of a case study,the interpreter,makes qualitative analysis of the interpreters’ own practice results,classifies the secondary information into four types: repetitive information,expository information,redundant information and irrelevant information and illustrates the reason why key information is failed to be extracted in the interpreting process and proposes strategies for the processing of secondary information: omission,induction and others,which are of some value to the relevant interpretation work in the future.
