The report is based on the author’s practical experience working in the translation project initiated by Beijing Wanli Jiangshan International Travel Agency Co.,Ltd,and the tasks assigned to the author are the C-E translation of introductions to tourist attractions.Through the analysis of the problems encountered in the translation process and the application of Eco-translatology as the theoretical guidance to solve the problems, the author creatively combines the studies on tourism translation and the theories of Ecotranslatology both in microscopic and macroscopic levels.Under the guidance of Eco-translatology,the translation problems are classified into three categories – the problems in the transformation of lingual, cultural, and communicative dimensions. The solutions are expounded correspondingly, with examples introduced as auxiliary explanation. The foci discussed include the adaptive selection transformations of words with folk features, religious terminologies, fourcharacter words, comment expressions, names of plants, and culture-loaded words,as well as problems caused by cultural default, differences between the writing conventions of tourism introductions in English and Chinese, and the limited time that audiences are willing to spare for reading the translated texts. With diverse translating skills and means adopted,an appropriate translational eco-environment is established,in which the translated text can survive. The author of the report explains the solutions to the translation problems correspondingly based on several specific theories of the complete theoretical system of Eco-translatology,namely multidimensional transplantation, the theory of ecological translation,“making up” for the translational eco-environment,“leaning on” the target-text Ecology, and “emptying” and reshaping.
