John Maxwell Coetzee(1940-)is an Australian-South African writer.He is a two-time winner of the Booker Prize in English literature and the winner of the 2003 Nobel Prize in Literature.He is the author of a series of novels and a collection of literary criticism.Living in the era of racial segregation,Coetzee,as the descendant of Dutch immigrants,has always been concerned with the issue of ethical thoughts in his works,and the profound connotation of ethical thoughts in his works has always been a hot topic in academic research.As an old writer,library cut remained three years the creation of novel rhythm,and constantly try new artistic form,the late cut library after migrated to Australia pay more attention to immigration,created The childhood of Jesus,The schooldays of Jesus and The death of Jesus three novels,"The death of Jesus" in 2021 to the Chinese press,Most of Coetzee’s works are already available in Chinese.Coetzee depicts a mysterious and dreamy country in Jesus Trilogy,and presents various problems of immigrants from the perspective of Simon the aged and David the child,which contains Coetzee’s profound ethical thoughts.This thesis is divided into four chapters.The first chapter analyzes the basic situation of the creation of Jesus trilogy,including the creation characteristics of Coetzee in his later years and the plight of immigrants in the novel,including the loss of immigrants’ cultural identity and the marginalized situation.The second chapter focuses on the analysis of the main characters David and Simon in what kind of ethical environment,what kind of identity made what kind of ethical choices.Rational representative Simon chose to adapt to the new society and become a good citizen of the new country,while David chose to pursue the "freedom" he wanted with his life.The different ethical choices made by the two protagonists have important reference significance for the living conditions of contemporary immigrants and even all mankind.The third chapter explains the value and significance of the ethical thoughts in Jesus’ trilogy,including the concern for the vulnerable immigrant groups,the praise for the people-oriented education system and the approval of the marriage and family relationship based on love,as well as the praise for the family education model of parental cooperation.Selecting Nobel laureate Coetzee’s latest series of Jesus trilogy,by adopting the method of ethical literary criticism,the hero David Simon and ethical choice in their environment,analysis of Simon and David ethical identity,to interpret its ethical choices,show love and compassion of immigrant groups,In modern society,the relationship between people,school education,family education and marriage and family relationship has an important role of inspiration.
