| Bei Dao was undoubtedly a shining pearl in the Chinese literary world in the 1980 s.His poems were famous for their obscurity and complexity,which brought people a sense of novelty at that time,due to their unique language,innovative artistic techniques and rhetorical use."Defamiliarization" refers to the use of novel and surprising methods to present the familiar things,so as to extend the time and distance for readers to perceive the work and create difficulties in understanding,so as to obtain the best aesthetic experience,this theory is consistent with Bei Dao’s aesthetic pursuit in poetry.The poetry of Bei Dao is always in development and change,taking 1989 as the watershed,this paper divides his poems into the former and later periods.I find that Bei Dao’s early poems in the pursuit of spirit of heroism,criticized the darkness of the social reality,at the same time,he built an ideal world in his poems,ran counter to the absurd world,formed paradox of image and image group.The poetic creation of this period were full of metaphor and distortion,showed the poet’s emotional catharsis.After 1989,Bei Dao began to drifting,and his poems began to introduce life-oriented things,modern words and foreign words.His poems became calm and gentle,showed a sense of loneliness and yearning for his hometown.On the whole,Bei Dao’s poetry creation has changed,but it always continues to innovate in poetic artistic techniques,and always embodies his aesthetic pursuit of "Defamiliarization",which aims to extend readers’ aesthetic feelings and strengthen the internal tension of his poetry.This paper focuses on the close connection between the theory of "Defamiliarization" and Bei Dao’s poetry,and makes a systematic study of its language,artistic techniques and rhetoric,trying to explore the aesthetic pursuit of "Defamiliarization" in Bei Dao’s poetry as well as the means and methods used,so as to achieve a new understanding of the poet’s aesthetic pursuit. |
