| The translation practice report is based on Digital Body Language,which provides methods for people in the digital workplace of using digital body language to build trust and connection.The text has the following features: at the lexical level,there are proper nouns,academic terms,and abbreviations;at the syntactic level,there are many passive sentences,noun sentences,attributive clauses,and headings;at the textual level,cohesion and coherence should be considered.Guided by the principles of “truth-seeking” and “utility-attaining” of Translator Behavior Criticism,the report explores how to make translation both accurate and readable.According to the features of the text,the source text is informative text at the lexical level and syntactic level in general,so the translator should follow the principle of“truth-seeking”.One thing to note is that headings at the syntactic level are operative text.At the textual level,the source text is also operative text,so the translator should follow the principle of “utility-attaining” and try to make the translation achieve “truth-seeking being the base with utility-attaining as the aim”.Based on the practice,some translation methods are summarized.At the lexical level,literal translation and transliteration can be used for proper nouns;literal translation can be employed for academic terms;zero translation and literal translation are adopted for abbreviations.At the syntactic level,the passive sentences can be transformed into sentences that are active in form but passive in meaning,or the subject can be translated into the object;for noun clauses,linear translation and division can be adopted;for attributive clauses,preposition and division are preferable.As for headings,which are operative text,the translator can use the idiomatic translation method.At the textual level,the translator can use translation techniques of omission and restructuring to realize cohesion and coherence. |
