A Practice Report On The Translation Of Technology And Applications Of Transportation Big Data(Excerpt) From The Perspective Of Reiss’s Text Typology

At present,China has entered a new stage in transportation technology which is parallel to the world-class countries and made great progress in the transportation big data.Besides,based on the initiative of building a global community of transport for all,translating Chinese latest research in the field of transportation big data is the way to practice this initiative and can provide some latest information in this field for overseas researchers.The translation material is the first section of the chapter two of Technology and Applications of Transportation Big Data: Overview of Perception Technology,which introduces the transportation data collection technologies at the forefront of transportation system analysis.It is a typical scientific and technological text.Guided by Katharina Reiss’ s text typology,the source text belongs to information text and through the analysis of the source text,technical terms,non-subject sentences and long sentences appear many times in the text,which are characteristics of this text as well as difficulties in this translation practice.In view of these difficulties in translation,the translator adopts literal translation for the translation of terms,conversion to passive voice and addition of the subject for the translation of non-subject sentences and division and inversion for the translation of long sentences under the guidance of Reiss’ s text typology.By adopting these translation methods,the translation achieves complete and accurate transfer of the information and realizes logic and orientation of target language.This report combines the translation materials with Reiss’ s text typology,aiming to summarize effective methods in Chinese to English translation of scientific and technological texts based on the source text.
