Huang Junbi is a master of his generation who has a special experience and has made a wide impact on both sides of the Taiwan Strait. He was born in a turbulent period when Western culture was spreading,Eastern and Western artistic trends were colliding, and Chinese painting was facing modernization and transformation. The majority of Chinese intellectual elites were generally enthusiastic in studying Western culture, thus holding a negative attitude towards their own national traditional culture.Huang Junbi, who was educated in the new style, did not accept the improvement of Western culture wholesale, but adhered to the tradition and integrated the West on the basis of the tradition, and finally came out with a special style path of fusion of mood and realism. As a Chinese painting artist and art educator,he has not only left valuable experiences of his own exploration inland, but also brought them to Taiwan,Hong Kong and other regions, contributing to the spread of Chinese painting.Throughout his life development, the following points can be summarized. He has adhered to and inherited the traditional Chinese art,and on this basis has made his own efforts and contributions to the development of Chinese painting, achieving multiple breakthroughs and innovations. He has left behind his invaluable experience in exploring ink and brush techniques and perspective creation.Secondly,he has made teaching and educating others his goal in life, and has unreservedly shared his valuable practical and theoretical experiences explored throughout his life to students in the Mainland,Taiwan and Hong Kong, passing them on from one generation to the next and filling the world with plums. As a result, the attention and research on Huang Junbi’s painting creation in domestic academia has been heating up,and the research perspectives on Huang Junbi’s painting art and the correlation between historical events and art creation are more helpful to enhance the understanding of Huang Junbi’s painting art. This thesis takes this as a starting point and focuses on his teaching days at the Guangzhou Municipal Fine Arts School from a microscopic perspective.Taking into account the background of his early life, the humanistic environment, and the trends of artistic development,he explores his artistic exploration during this period, mainly including the causes and connotations of his artistic philosophy and the study of his paintings. On this basis, focusing on the grasp of the overall historical context,a comprehensive analysis shows that although his teaching period was in the ten-year period of copying antiquity,an analysis of his advanced artistic philosophy shows that he copied ancient paintings only for a solid foundation for his sketching period, thus he was not a conservative who followed the old ways, but a revolutionary who took every step steadily, and was the inheritor and promoter of tradition.
