Politics is the product of the continuous development of social communication and the result of social communication tending to scale, standardization, procedure, clarity, accuracy and culture.Political system refers to the organization and management form of state power and the system related to national political activities.Parliamentary system is a democratic political system, which takes parliament as the center of national political activities and the government must be responsible to Parliament.India has been exploring democracy under the framework of parliamentary democracy for more than half a century since its independence.Under the comprehensive consideration of the colonial edification of the British Empire and India’s own characteristics, the new India, which got rid of colonial rule, chose parliamentary democracy, and continuously developed and evolved to form its own characteristic parliamentary democracy. After independence,India embarked on the development path of modernization and made great progress in all aspects, which is directly related to the operation of parliamentary democracy.Of course, the system not only brings stability and prosperity, but also brings some hidden dangers of development. On the one hand, parliamentary democracy has stabilized the new political power, promoted the process of political modernization and promoted the rapid development of society and economy; On the other hand,it has deepened class and social contradictions. The electoral system has increased the financial burden and confused the long-term development plan of India’s economy. It can be said to be a double-edged sword.During the operation of parliamentary democracy in India, the political, economic and cultural problems can not help but arouse our thinking on the development of the system. The smooth operation of the political system must be based on the national conditions of the country, combined with the essence of the development of things, follow the thinking of dialectics, and unite all the people. If India’s parliamentary democracy wants to play a greater role,it must recognize the complex national background and effectively solve many problems. For example, localism, corruption, election violence and political criminalization from the national level;Poverty, gender discrimination, illiteracy and basic living services such as environment, health and housing come from the social level. The political, economic and social performance reflects the operation effect and development obstacles of Indian parliamentary democracy, which is not only the progress of mankind, but also the wealth of social development. This study studies the effectiveness and challenges of Indian parliamentary democracy from two aspects: the vertical development since its establishment and the horizontal development from the perspective of politics, economy, religion and society. In the specific research, the combination of micro(case)research and macro research is used. From the specific case studies of election, economic reform, religious conflict and education,we can reflect the operation effect of Indian parliamentary system, reflect the social situation of India under parliamentary system, and summarize the problems needing attention in the development of parliamentary democracy.
